I've heard about this place for a while but never had the chance to visit. Everyone had been telling me about it since they used to just be a food truck.
I finally came with a few friends for lunch at 1:30 on Thursday.
It wasn't busy yet, but more people started to pour in as soon as it got close to 2:30.
It's not a large place. They've got two rooms to sit in. It's pretty minimal regarding decor. The rooms aren't super brightly painted and they had the fans on to cool down the rooms. There's also a TV in one room that was showing the news. They've got men's and women's bathrooms.
The restaurant has a hole-in-the-wall vibe, except that this place has been a popular spot since it opened! Guy Fieri has been here and they've got a huge Food Network logo out front to prove it.
I ordered the deal with fish, shrimp, and 2 sides. I decided on the whiting, Cajun fries, and a boiled egg. They were out of the hush puppies, seafood Mac, and broccoli much to my dismay.
My friend got the crawfish po boy which came with fries.
My other friend got a baked potato, fried shrimp, and fries (Yes, her meal was 2/3 potato lol).
Everything was fantastic! We all had the garlic butter sauce poured over the fish, baked potato, boiled egg and shrimp. It really tastes like it was someone's family recipe.
The staff was nice and greeted us upon entering. Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time as well.
Prices are typical for seafood.
It was cool to see folks from around the neighborhood as well as all over Louisville here.
I'm down to try other items off the menu! The gator or lobster sound pretty good.
Parallel parking was easy to find. We parked right in front with no issue. -

Diners drive ins and Dives has kept this place open.
The inside is relatively run down and little upkeep has happened. Tables and seats need to be replaced and a good cleaning is necessary.
Large quantities of food rolls out of here daily.
Crab is very salty but not over cooked.
Very traditional southern cuisine.
Fried and loaded with seasoning.
Tourists frequent here, so they come o ce and never return.
I am one of those. -

Don't really get the hype.
- The service is laughably bad. I mean... I wasn't even upset. I actually laughed at how horrible it was. The person that took our order was on the phone the whole time. Never once made eye contact with me. She was looking all around the restaurant and past me and everywhere else. Never once looked at me. And told me to hold on in the middle of me ordering because she was getting a call on her cell phone.
Shocking.
- It took FOREVER to get our food. I mean, we waited ages. It eventually came. And we ate it. And that's why this place gets 2* instead of 1*.
- The food is actually yummo. I'll eat that food again. But if I do, I'm ordering takeaway, and I'm having someone else go pick it up. No way in hell I'm going through that again. -

This place was just okay in our experience. Seems pretty run down and the food isn't nearly close to the quality you'd expect from all the hype. The hush puppies were probably the best part of the meal, everything else was just eh, and the coleslaw tasted very off, not sure if it was old or they threw in an extra ingredient or two that's not typically in coleslaw but it didn't work at all. I wouldn't come back here even if it was one of the few food spots within walking distance from where we were staying.

Seafood Lady! Its definitely good seafood! Is it worth the wait that you're going to definitely run into on a weekend, not so sure? But as a first-timer at the downtown Louisville location, I can say the food was delicious. I may try venturing back on a weekday to beat the crowds and long wait with minimal seating.
